Hospital Stay

Cody was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease on Thursday which resulted in a brief stay at the hospital. We actually got to go home today, a day earlier than they first told us. While at the hospital the nurses started an IV in him to begin treatment. It took 10-12 hours for all the medication to get into his system. It was amazing how drastic his improvement was after receiving this. We will have several more visits with some doctors and have another echocardiogram done to check on his heart, but every doctor seems very confident he will be fine and will not have any long term affects from this. We will have to give Cody aspirin for awhile also, so, hopefully, that will go well; it tastes pretty disgusting. It is nice to be home!
While at the hospital Cody was a pretty good trooper, for the most part. When his IV would get a kink in it and begin to beep, Cody would lay in bed and quietly call out, “Nurse. Nurse.” I am not sure where he learned this! The extra gentle nurses Cody would refer to as his teachers which I thought was pretty sweet. Cody also received a panda bear from Grandma and Grandpa while there which helped the nurses out a lot. Giving medicine to Bear first made the whole process more fun and brought a smile to Cody’s face. Cody also told the nurse that he fed his panda bear spaghetti earlier! Thanks for everyone who prayed!
