Fourth Of July

Cody and Anna were so excited to have Nanna, Pap, Aunt Elaine, and Aunt Elise come visit over Fourth of July weekend! Cody even took extra special care to tidy up his bedroom as he was having such special people stay in his room; he was so thrilled! We had a fun time at the local festival that was held in our area. The kids got to enjoy pony and carnival rides, a bird show, bounce house, face painting, and fireworks that evening. Cody was so brave to hold a parrot after the bird show. He amazes me with how bold he is when it comes to picking up all sorts of animals, fearless! Anna has always enjoyed riding fun and fast amusement park rides with me in the past. However, I was a little concerned about her going on a miniature roller coaster ride with just Cody. I wasn’t sure if she would feel secure with just him. Anyways, we strapped them in their seatbelts, and off they went. Anna could see all of us standing to the side of the ride and even smiled with delight at me as she passed. She continued to enjoy herself until the last couple lapse around the track. I could see the concern gradually building until she was at a full cry. Shawn said he saw Cody lean over and tell her she was okay to help comfort her. Thankfully, the ride stopped right then, and I hurried up there to help her. As I approached she looked fine, and the first thing out of her mouth to me was, “That was fun!” She then said to me, “I said ‘Whoa-oh-oh-oh!’ It was scary.” She was so pleased and would continually laugh at herself as she repeated the story over the evening as to how she said, “Whoa-oh-oh-oh!” We all had a good time on the rides, but there was one particular ride I bet Aunt Elaine was glad to see come to an end….the sweet little teacup ride. She kindly offered to take Cody and Anna on the ride; however, it didn’t take very long for a skirmish to develop once on the ride. Cody and Anna both wanted to be in control of the wheel which makes the cup spin, and somehow they had lost all sense of sharing. I think Aunt Elaine should get some extra points for having to be in the middle of that battle!……Thanks so much, Elaine! We had such a fun time with all of you and miss you so much! Hope to see you all soon!
