Jokes And A Little Bear

Yesterday I smiled as I heard Cody from the other room trying to teach Anna how to tell jokes. It went something like this, “Anna, why did the chicken cross the road?” Anna: “I don’t know.” Cody: “No, Anna, you have to say, “Why DID the chicken cross the road?” Anna responded accordingly, and Cody then threw out the punchline, “Because he was waiting!” Great laughter ensued! Then Anna made her attempt at joke-telling, “Cody, why did the bird fly in the sky?” But I didn’t get a chance to hear her punchline as something caught my eye as I walked into the dining room. There safely tucked under our area rug was Anna’s Pooh Bear blankie, tattered nose and all, that she carries everywhere. She must have tucked him in there to keep him comfy, and I could almost hear her telling Pooh as she does many nights when tucking him into bed with her, “There you go, Pooh Bear. Safe and sound. Safe and sound.”
