Memory Lapse

Coming back home from a bike ride, Cody, Anna, Dylan, and I stopped to talk with a neighbor who lives across the street. It was a nice quick visit, and Cody had fun watching her dogs play and learned the name of her newest dog. As we headed to leave, though, Anna asks, “Mommy, what’s her name?” Goodness! I have lived by this family for seven years now, talk to them frequently, received a baby gift from them, delivered baked goodies at Christmas time to them, but her name ALWAYS escapes me. What is her name??? So I casually bend down to Anna’s level and whisper rather quickly, “I forget.” Anna, looking confused, blurts out sweetly, “Her name is I forget?” With that, I just kept walking toward home with my little bike riders and hoped, hoped our neighbor did not hear my little darling Anna.
