First Words

I always struggle with first words. When do those first words take place? If it is the first moment babies actually say a word without knowledge of it then Dylan said his first word months ago. First time he said “Mama” and it actually APPEARED to Shawn and me as if it was truly directed at me was several months ago. We were at Pier One shopping, and I walked in front of Shawn as he held Dylan. As soon as I met up with them and crossed their path, Dylan said, “Mama.” However, he still seemed too small to me. Did he truly mean me?? Anyways, I will officially count yesterday as being a first word kind of day. He has grown and is a smart little guy. I honestly believe Dylan knew exactly what he was saying when he saw Shawn come in the door from work. A very quiet Dylan became very excited. His face lit up, and he began saying over and over, “Dadda! Dadda!”
