The Funny Things You Say

Cody saying his goodnight prayers: “And, God, thank you for giving me a good sister. Even though she does mean things sometimes, thank you that I still love her.” This made me laugh…Translated, “Thank you for giving me the grace to love her anyways!”

Cody while giving me a hug: “Mommy, I smell your breath.”
Me: “I have gum in my mouth.”
Cody: “It smells minty!”
Me: “Well, I guess that’s not the worst smell ever.”
Cody, agreeing, (with no ill will intended): “No, I’ve smelled Anna’s breath before…”
Anna responds: “How ABSURD!”

Anna while trying to shut a difficult door: “Stubborn door!”

On movies~ Anna claims there are two movies that almost bring tears to her eyes. They are Aladdin when Jasmine says goodbye to her large pet cat of some sort. The other is Toy Story 3 when the bear meanly asks the baby if she wants her Momma. “That just about brought tears to my eyes,” she tells me.

On movies~ Cody hears my stomach growl one evening, and his eyes begin to explore the room. “Oh, I thought your stomach was one of those spooky pirates on Scooby Doo!”

Dylan for a long time now has said, “Awww” and lays his head on us whenever he wants to cuddle. It has now occured to us that he is also doing this to get out of tickles or any rough-housing that becomes too great for him to bear. I noticed one night Shawn getting him, gobbling him up and tickling him, and Dylan would do this. Shawn would immediately stop and cuddle him. I brought this to Shawn’s attention, so he tested it out. Literally, at times, all Shawn had to do was make the noise like he was going to get Dylan and Dylan would tenderly say, “Awww,” to trick Shawn out of getting him…Smart boy!
