Love These Faces

We went to downtown St. Charles the other weekend. I wanted to get a school photo of Cody and Anna that seemed more fitting of them now. I know I took some earlier in the school year, but Cody was dressed up more, when in reality he loves his sweatshirts and comfy jeans at this age. Anna’s hair was quickly curled in a way she has NEVER had it before, so that just made me sad that I did not capture the true HER, so I decided on a do-over. I know, I’m crazy, but these things mean so much to me. When they get older and no longer have their child-like ways, I want to look back and remember them exactly like they were. I get all sappy just thinking about it. The kids actually asked me to take extra photos of them along our walk and would point out things they wanted their picture with. But the one shot that touched my heart was when Cody said to me, “Mom, could I just get a picture of the two of us together?” So I handed my camera to Shawn, and he snapped the photo below. We stopped in at Riverside Sweets for ice cream and hot chocolate afterwards.
