Bull Riding

Valentine’s night we went to watch the bull riding at the Scottrade Center.  I didn’t plan for that to be our Valentine evening, but I had seen the advertisement for bull riding a month or so ago and thought Shawn would enjoy it.  His parents happened to be coming that weekend, so we arranged it so they could come too!  It was the first bull riding event I had ever been to.  Cody grew concerned that we were going to watch bull riding after being at our school Valentine party that day.  We were all wearing red, and he was concerned the bulls might charge us!  Thankfully, Myth Busters tested and disproved this theory; Phew, Cody could now breathe easy! The kids enjoyed it.  I don’t think there has been one day since that night that Abby has not talked about the rodeo clown and the “flip-wheels” that he did!  Also, there hasn’t been one day since that evening when Abigail hasn’t asked when Nana and Pap are coming back.  She even brought me my huge desk calendar one afternoon, skimmed her finger over the dates, and said, “Maybe Nana and Pap can come in two hours!”  She, obviously, needs a little help reading a calendar!  Shawn’s parents took the kids out for a fun afternoon while letting Shawn and me go out to dinner.  Cody was so excited to see the new Lego movie; he had been asking to go before it ever came out at the theaters.  Shawn and I went to the VB Chocolate Bar for dessert.  I had been  wanting to take him there since I went with some girlfriends around Christmastime.  He really liked it.  The dessert we wanted was sold out, so we got a raspberry cheese cake which Shawn loved probably even more than what we intended to get.  Since they were out of what we originally ordered, though, they brought us some chocolate truffles on the house.  They looked a little like slugs and not at all appealing to the eyes, but they were actually very good!  This Valentine’s I had wanted to make pink popcorn with the kids.  We didn’t get time, but we did find a cute bag of some while shopping one day.  The kids were just as thrilled!  I LOVE celebrating the holidays with my little family!
