Public Works Fair

Some friends invited us to celebrate National Public Works week with them at T. R. Hughes Ballpark.  The family-oriented fair focused on big equipment, and the kids got to sit in the driver’s seat.  They had safety awareness games and activities for kids.  They handed out items to the kids that were made from recycled materials and talked to the kids about recycling.  They got to see snow plows, a paint striper, backhoes, a radar trailer, street sweeper, water main break service truck and more.  They also got to ride on the small city train.  Their favorite game, by far, was red light, green light using a real stoplight.  I think the big draw to that game, though, was the candy box they got to pick from afterwards!  Their favorite truck was the trash truck.  The man let them push the button to lift the garbage can and dump out its contents.  Let me to tell you, that is a dream come true for preschoolers!!  We ended our fun with some ice cream at Fritz’s.
