Godzilla Party

Yesterday we celebrated Dylan’s birthday with a Godzilla party.  Now, if I were honest, I would tell you that when Dylan picked Godzilla I was secretly trying to urge him back to his original idea of Superman.  We were at the bakery, and Dylan found a Superman cake, the whole reason we stopped there.  Then Cody saw what was on the page next to it, and says, “Oh, cool!  Godzilla!”  Dylan was instantly hooked.  And that is how the Godzilla party came to be.  Then I realized the world of boys and girls is drastically different!  Godzilla looked so fierce, monstrous, maybe hideous even.  This was not my idea of a cute celebration, but after I saw Dylan’s heart was so excited that he could in a few short days have in his possession that Godzilla toy cake topper, I told myself to embrace the idea.  And I was so surprised to find out just how fun it would be planning this special day for him!  We started the morning of his party with dinosaur oatmeal for breakfast.  Watching the dinosaurs hatch from the eggs in their bowls was so much fun!  Anna and I made dinosaur cookies and fossil track cookies the night before.  Anna told me how much fun she was having baking.  I love having her to bake with!  The stores had Easter candy out, so I bought some candy eggs to have for our “dinosaur” eggs.  We made Nuclear Sludge for drinks and Bugels for our Godzilla claws.  There was a frenzy of excitement, as food was devoured and presents torn into.  I, seriously, can’t believe Dylan is almost 6 years old now.  This morning he came to me to snuggle and fell asleep on my chest.  I am not ready for those cuddles to end.  Happy birthday, sweet boy.
