Lantern Fest

SPECTACULAR!!!  That is the word I used to describe the Lantern Fest last night when Cody asked me on the drive home to describe the event in one word.  He referred to the famous line “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” in Mary Poppins when he tried to describe it because, as he said, there really are just no words for it.  I was so engrossed in watching Cody and Anna light their lantern at the beginning of the release, that when I finally glanced upward the sight I saw took my breath away!  The photos I took could not possibly capture the awe and magic that surrounded us.  The music and songs playing as the lanterns floated toward the night sky added to the stunning display.  I noticed Cody standing there studying the lanterns for quite some time.  I walked up to him, and he asked me, with tears in his eyes, what they reminded me of.  He told me they reminded him of Grandma.  I could only imagine the spectacular sights she was seeing then too!  We stood there, arms around each other, for the rest of that incredible experience, Cody brushing tears away on occasion.  I, honestly, have never experienced anything like this before, a moment I will certainly never forget.  One of the lines in the song last evening: “There is no life, no life without its hunger.  Each restless heart beats so imperfectly.  But then You come and I am filled with wonder.  Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.”  Last night I felt I saw a very small glimpse of the awe and wonder we will experience one day in eternity, and I simply can not wait.
