These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

One of the greatest joys is seeing your children open gifts on Christmas morning.  In our house, there are so many squeals of delight and the “thank you’s” just pour out abundantly.  I wished yesterday I would have taken some video to capture some of it.  Last night after I had tucked Dylan into bed and went downstairs for a moment, I heard Dylan calling my name.  I called back, and he asked me to come to his room.  When I got there, he motioned to me with his hand, his little fingers tightly closed together.  I stepped forward.  He motioned me to come closer.  Then he reached out his arms and gave me the sweetest hug and said, “Thank you, Mom, for the presents.  I didn’t know if I had told you that yet.”  The thing is, he actually told me a million times in great delight that morning in the midst of the unwrapping frenzy, but it meant so much that that was on his mind as he lay thinking in bed.  He proceeded to tell me all about his favorite parts of our day together.  That moment right there was definitely one of mine.
