Elf Shenanigans

Abigail learned the truth about Elliot the elf this past year, yet Dylan and she still wanted to play the game this year at Christmas time.  We would tuck them in bed last month, and they would come out and beg us to hide Elliot this Christmas.  They love finding him and seeing what he is up to.  Childhood only comes once in a lifetime, so we decided to do the elf on the shelf once again this year.  I know these will be memories they will cherish forever!  Elliot (which there are two now…one for Dylan and one for Abby) created so many laughs this month once again!  One evening as I was going to bed I had the two Elliots painting Rudolph noses on themselves, so I sneaked into Dylan and Abby’s room the next morning to put a little dab of paint on their noses to surprise them.  I was planning to set a note next to the elves saying, “Look in the mirror.”  However, I woke up later than intended, so when I put a dab (which was more like a glob) of paint on Abby’s nose, she began to stir.  She sleepily raised up and rubbed her nose.  I watched as her hand went across her whole face! Yikes!  I made up some lame excuse why I was standing there, and she asked for a hug and went back to sleep.  When she woke an hour later, she was confused as to why she had red streaks on her hand.  But her face.  Oh, my, you should have seen her face!!!  It looked like she had been a part of a horrible massacre with blood splatter all over her eye, cheek, and forehead!  We burst into laughter!!  She was quite the sight!  Thanks for the memories, Elliot, and if we don’t see you next year, please know you have been a favorite part of these precious years.  You have been well loved!
