The Sky is Falling
A few weeks ago right before 9:00 in the evening, Anna and I were sitting in the living room talking. As I was listening to Anna, I saw a bright light flash across the night sky. The whole sky looked lit up for a moment. It surprised me because I knew it wasn’t the weather for a lightening storm. I dismissed it pretty quickly. Then a couple minutes later we heard a huge boom. I said to Anna, “What was that?!” She listened and then shrugged her shoulders and said, “I don’t know, but it must be okay…nobody’s crying.” (She assumed Dylan and Abby who were upstairs must have been up to some dangerous shenanigans!) We soon learned that the flash and booming sound were seen and heard for miles. Home and office surveillance cameras caught a giant basketball-sized meteor blazing across the sky. The sonic boom was so loud that a friend of mine thought a car had run into her house. Many people said it shook their homes. It was so unusual to experience a meteor of that size that it was quite the talk of the town that week! Abby just recently drew me a picture. It was a drawing of a house. I was amused, though, when I studied it closer and saw a giant fiery rock coming down from the sky right above it!
