We Snuggled a Giraffe

We took a weekend trip to Branson and made a stop on our way to the Wild Animal Safari.  I guess we thought it best to break in our new car we just bought 3 days before leaving with cow snot and dodging bull horns!  A big highlight from our time there was getting to see Sheldon the giraffe.  This giraffe gravitated toward Shawn (who I now call the giraffe whisperer) and would swoop his neck down by Shawn’s head and almost snuggle like a puppy dog.  The first time he did this Shawn wasn’t expecting it, and he got head-butted.  Needless to say, Shawn quickly learned to keep an eye on him.  The giraffe loved being scratched on his head, and he kept coming back for more.  Abigail loved that the giraffe chewed on Shawn’s shirt, at one point, leaving teeth marks.  Cody enjoyed feeding the monkey Fruit Loops and actually got the monkey to take it from his hand.  Cody also wanted me to take a photo of him and the peacock together,  but he was a bit leery of the bird after seeing a picture of my cousin Melanie who got attacked by a peacock in the road just that week.  True story.  They are more than just a pretty face!  When we left, Abigail thought over her time there and announced, “Well, that was just gross!”  Yes, gross and fun!
