Sparrow’s Nest Daddy/Daughter Dance

Shawn took Abby to the Sparrow’s Nest Princess Dance, and Abby could not stop talking about it when she got home!  The Sparrow’s Nest is a ministry to young unwed mothers.  Anna and I took Abby shopping for a dress the week before, and we picked out several gorgeous dresses and even brought them home with us, but, on the day of the dance, Abby came down carrying a red dress that she loved that Anna wore when she was Abby’s age.  That was the dress she chose.  Shawn gave Abby a beautiful red rose before they left for their fun evening.  All of the princesses were there at the dance, and Tinkerbell even sprinkled some glitter in Abby’s hair.  Shawn and Abby were treated to a fun limousine ride around the country club and got their photos taken when they got back.  They ate a nice meal and had dessert.  Shawn even got some fun videos of Abby and her best friend dancing to the lively music being played by the DJ.  I joked with Abby that she should have taken some videos of Shawn because she told me he danced to the fast songs with her and even did the lawn sprinkler dance with her!  Now that I wish I could have seen!  Abby told me all about slow dancing with Shawn, and she giggled as she told me how he told her that he needed to spin her!  She told me about how Shawn and the other dads got on their knees and read a sweet promise to them and how Shawn slipped a crown necklace around her neck as a reminder of her value in Christ.  She received another rose from the princesses when she left.  The whole evening was perfectly planned and was such a special evening for the girls.  The last words Shawn read to her during the promise ceremony summed the evening up so well, “You are God’s daughter.  He is our King.  Walk like a princess.”
