Strawberry Patch

Several weekends ago, when Abigail was not even two weeks old yet, we took the kids to a strawberry patch at Eckert’s in Illinois. It felt so good to get out, and since it was Memorial weekend they had a mini-carnival for the children which made it even so much better. The kids LOVED picking strawberries and figuring out which ones were ripe for the pickin’! Cody kept saying as our box of strawberries filled up, “We are the luckiest because we have so many strawberries!” Anna and Dylan loved being tossed over the strawberry rows by Shawn. His arms must have been so sore by the end of the day! Cody picked me some “flowers” that were growing nearby. I love the adoring sound in his voice as he hands them to me. We ate at a restaurant afterwards that was on the property, good homestyle, country fixins! Dylan LOVED the apple butter and the biscuits. He ate several, and the expression on his face was priceless as he took each bite. I may have to find a recipe similar for that little guy! Afterwards we got some custard and headed to the country store to let the kids pick out their free special flavored candy stick. I think when it was all said and done we had a little over 5 lbs. of strawberry goodness to take home. Such a fun afternoon!
