A Cushion, Helpful

This is the meaning of the name Cody. He was living up to his name about a week ago when we went with some friends to a jump house filled with inflatables and huge slides. He escorted Anna around as she loved being glued to his side. Literally, the thought of letting Anna go in some of the bounce houses and slides totally terrified me as I worried Anna wouldn’t be big enough to go in them. I envisioned her small little body being tossed around harshly and her being terrified. I couldn’t imagine how I was going to get my pregnant belly up there to rescue her. However, it was the exact opposite. She loved it! I think having her big brother with her made her feel brave. She laughed the whole time and kept telling me, “I did it, Mommy!” Later we all went to get a drink at the fountain. We passed a boy, younger than Anna, crying. After Cody got his drink he walked off into the play area and shouted back at us, “I’m going to help that boy!” Then a little bit later I saw Cody with his arms outstretched trying to hoist a little girl up to the bottom of one of the equipment as she was very obviously too small to get herself up on her own. Cody continually does little things like this. He will wait for someone across the parking lot just so he can hold the door open for them. He truly is a helper. Cody and Anna had a great time playing with friends, but what they talked about too on our drive home that made the day so special was the happy surprise we all got when Shawn came walking through the door to watch them play. He was able to slip away from work for a little while and surprise us all. It meant so much to Cody and Anna!
