Swan Boats, Parakeets, and Camels

We visited Grant’s Farm last weekend and were pleasantly surprised.  They have added so many cute things to their place.  We had so much fun.  When we arrived we took the kids on a swan paddle boat ride.  These swans are absolutely adorable!  Anna, Dylan, and Abigail rode a camel named Ruby (Cody passed on this.)  Also new this year was a cage full of parakeets.  We bought a feeding stick, and the birds just landed on them.  I love the expression on the boys’ faces when we first walked in, and one landed on Dylan’s stick.  This was, by far, their favorite attraction, and we had to go back one more time before we left the park.  I think Anna would say it was her favorite too if the one bird that landed on her head hadn’t left a tiny present.  She was a good sport about it!  I told Shawn when we went back the second time that he should go in with the kids that time because it was like something he’s never experienced before.  He agreed to go that time, and I felt sort of sorry for him.  For some reason, the birds, one in particular, kept flying at him and landing on his head, his shouder, pecking sweet nothings on his neck and ear.  I really don’t know why they were so drawn to him, but they were!  We laughed so hard at his luck; he kept trying to shoo them away in case an incident like Anna’s occurred.  It was so much fun, and Cody keeps asking when we can go back.  He even asked the man working at the parakeet cage for the recipe for the bird seed.  Dylan and Cody have set up traps over the past years trying to catch a bird.  They have wanted one so badly, so this was like a slice of Heaven to them!  Grant’s Farm you did not disappoint!
