Lake Norfork

We spent last Saturday at Lake Norfork.  Shawn’s family had invited us.  We had never taken the kids to water tube in the past.  I have a feeling we will be doing that a whole lot more.  They absolutely loved it!  We have been back a week now, and the kids have mentioned it every single day since.  Abigail was fearless on the water, and she has asked us several times now when we can go back.  Shawn’s parents rented out a boat with a slide, the perfect boat for kids our age.  I expected the kids to like that, but what I didn’t expect was for Cody and Anna to jump off the top of the boat into the water repeatedly that day.  They were all pretty brave.  Dylan was nervous, at first, to water tube, but within 10 seconds he was smiling and asking to ride by himself.  I conquered jumping off a cliff into the lake for the first time, Shawn too.  It looked so much easier from the safe distance of the boat.  Once up there, my heart raced.  I laugh looking at the photos of Shawn and me jumping.  I am plugging my nose and really should have jumped out further.  Shawn’s jump looked awesome, but who said it had to be graceful??  Ha!  I did it.  That’s what counts, right? Anna is convinced now I am an adrenaline junkie as she rated me in her American Girl quiz under super adventurous when she got home (couldn’t be further from the truth).  It was a special day of firsts for all the kids, and I am so appreciative to Shawn’s parents for including us on that fun adventure.  It was one of the children’s favorite highlights this summer.

P.S. The Coke bottles in the photo are personalized, “Share a Coke with (Cody, Anna, Dylan, Abby, Michael, Deb).  The kids searched about 5 stores to find everyone’s names.  They were so excited to pass them out that day.  It’s what we’ll remember about Coke in 2014!
