Kicking It

This morning Cody tested for his recommended black belt.  It was impressive!  He did such an awesome job!  Cody didn’t know (because Shawn and I waited until after testing to tell him) but one of the fathers told us that when his son tested recently for the same belt, his son really struggled.  In fact, we were told that he and several others who also tested were pulled aside by the instructor and were given a talk about how the skill level that they demonstrated did not match with their higher level belt ranking.  Cody had some difficult breaking techniques today, but he nailed everyone of them and broke the boards with such ease.  Everything he did was strong, focused, and precise.  I could tell his instructor was extremely pleased.  Whenever we tell Cody how awesome he did, he just smiles, a big, beautiful smile.  Always stay humble.
