This summer Cody has mastered peddling his bike which can be very difficult when going uphill. We had to try several bikes to figure out which was easiest for his feet to peddle. In the springtime I gave him incentives to help him learn how to get his bike uphill. For instance, “If you ride your bike up to that stop sign you can have a popsicle.” That really seemed to motivate and make the learning process fun! Now Cody is a pro at his bike and loves to ride it all around the neighborhood. Shawn laughed, though, the other day when he came home from work and found Cody parking his bike after a long ride in the hot summer weather. We went inside and Cody said to me, “Mommy, I worked so VERY, VERY hard. Now I can have a coke!” He is now a firm believer in rewarding one’s hard work!
