On A First Name Basis

Well, the day has finally arrived. Actually the process started a few months back, but it is happening on a regular basis now. Cody has taken to calling Shawn and me by our first names. He does still call us Mommy and Daddy, but he seems to find it very neat to try out our actual names more frequently. It must seem a little daring to him because he will usually ask permission before addressing us this way. Sometimes he will call Shawn just by Shawn, but many times it is ShawnDaddy. Anyways, I wondered how it would feel to hear my three year old calling me by my first name, but I have never loved hearing my name more! I can be upstairs and my heart feels so much joy when I hear his little voice at the bottom of the stairs calling, “Terwee!” Absolutely the sweetest sound!
