I Can Read!

Almost a week ago, December 16 to be exact :), Anna surprised me by reading her first word at the age of three! Cody was writing on his Doodle-pro when he asked to write a word for Anna to read. I told him she didn’t know how to read yet (I didn’t want to frustrate her as I listened to her practice blends earlier and didn’t think she should take on anything more challenging.) She wanted to try, though, and told me she guessed Cody would write the word “yes.” So Cody wrote out CAT. Anna stopped what she was doing and said the word was “yes.” Clearly, she needed help, but when I made the offer she quickly told me she could do it by herself. She looked at the board, and I listened as she sounded it out, “Ccc, Aaa, Ca, T, CAT!” Needless to say, that was a proud moment, and Anna received some HUGE hugs!
