Street Dance
We went to the big neighborhood party the other day. The kids had fun trying out the dunk tank, playing in the bounce house, eating yummy food, and just hanging with friends. While there, I heard a little girl calling Cody’s name. I turned to see Reagan, a good friend who also goes to our church. She approached Cody, in her fun, outgoing usual way and asked Cody if he wanted to go dance with her by the DJ. Cody’s eyes looked up at me, a plea for help. He looked almost ill. I could tell the poor guy clearly did NOT want to dance. So I asked him, “Cody, do you want to dance?” Geez, thanks, Mom, for repeating the dreaded question! Cody politely said no. Reagan pointed and said, “Well, there’s hula hoops over there too.” Cody still didn’t want to be anywhere close to dancing girls, though! I tried to rescue him by saying, “Didn’t you want to go play on the playground?” Cody perked up and with great relief in his voice said, “Oh, yeah!… Right now!” He convinced Reagan to play over there too, and I saw her give him a big hug. So cute!
