We have had doctor appointments this week. This morning Cody had more blood drawn to make sure everything is still on track internally. Most of the patients at Dr. Heather’s office are children fighting cancer. Before the appointment I took Cody and Anna to the store to pick out a present for a boy and a girl at the cancer center there where Dr. Heather works. I hope it brought some joy to a little boy or girl today! We got there early, so we wrote a thank you note to place on a car in one of the staff parking spots. As I wrote, some lights began flashing behind me. It was an ambulance that transports pediatric patients. We decided to stick our note on the driver side window of the ambulance parked next to it. I hope they know they are appreciated!
Abigail has been so super BUSY lately. In a period of 24-48 hours last week, Abby managed to throw a toilet paper roll in the toilet and then go on to later throw her sippy cup in the toilet. She spilled beans all over the floor twice and tormented her brother by taking his special cowboy boots away. One of the kids hit heads with me early in the day. And as I was putting dinner in the crockpot I kept hearing, “Mom, what did Abby do to my school computer?” A second later, “Mom, Abby has a stinky diaper!” Then I hear crying…”Mom, Abby took Dylan’s cowboy boots.” I turn and manage to hit my head on the microwave. The day was so bizarre, we even found Abigail sleeping UNDER Anna’s bed at bedtime! Exhaustion! But I love how our brains seem to edit out the difficult times, and how we hold on to the good memories. By lunch I leaned over the counter and rested my head in my hands to just breathe. I hear Cody shout happily from the next room, “Oh, Mom, can I get a good morning hug and kiss?!!” That hug felt all the more sweeter that day. Later I walked into the room and found Cody reading Abby a story from one of her Cilfford books. She loves to be read to. These are the things I treasure and remember by day’s end. And I know some day I am going to miss all this…
