Fourth of July Barbeque
This past weekend some friends from our Life Group got together for a cookout. We had such a great time visiting and playing together. We had sack races and water games for the kids, along with other things, and Shawn brought fireworks and set them off later that evening. We only had a couple mishaps! My friend Erin’s little boy Jackson got excited with his sparkler and began waving it around quite vigorously. He waved it onto Cody’s head, but, thankfully, his dad Ryan was there to grab it. Ryan was shocked when he saw some slightly burnt hair on top of Cody’s head! The next day, though, I looked at his head and couldn’t tell anything had even happened. It never hurt Cody, but Erin decided to race Cody down the driveway and across the street just for good measure. She knows a good race will fix anything with boys! Andy broke out his new snow cone maker which was a hit with both the kids and the adults. They were seriously the best snow cones I have ever eaten, nice yummy shaved ice! He and his wife are planning to open a side business next year making snow cones. They have already picked the cutest name for it! Anyways, the kids were FILTHY by the time we left and were ready for baths. It was a sign of a great day!
P.S. The kids were excited to find this rainbow in the sky as they played outside (see photo). Also, the kids were so funny as Shawn shot off fireworks. They kept shouting, “Cover your ears!” and running away to a safe distance! They thought this was so fun.
