A Wish For You
This post is for my mom…
Saturday we visited Build-a-Bear for the first time. We wanted to get Grandma something special as she receives some very important test results at the doctor this week. I thought Build-a-Bear was a lot of hype and commercialism in the past, so I never had much desire to visit it. I didn’t realize how special that trip was going to be to me. The kids picked out a bunny for you. They each took a stuffed heart and picked out characteristics they thought your bunny should have. The sales lady was so sweet as she helped them record their message to you. Hearing them record what was on their hearts made me tear up. I briefly made eye contact with the sales lady, and she also appeared to be getting emotional herself. I wondered if she was a grandmother. She had the kids rub their soft hearts that they chose to put inside your bunny; she had them rub it in their hands, rub it on their cheeks, rub it on their tummies, and rub it on their noses. They each did exactly that. Then she had them close their eyes and make a wish for you. Anna told me she wished for you to get better. I imagine Cody did too. Dylan and Abby closed their eyes and wished as best as they know how. Dylan said he wished something for you and your bunny. They kissed their hearts and then put their hearts into the bunny, as the sales lady let them push the pedal to add the cotton for its stuffing. She had them each hug it to make sure it was just the right squishiness. They all agreed it was. Then they cleaned it up for you, washing every little inch. Then we picked out an outfit, and the kids decided on a name for her. They chose Hops. I hope you love it; it is on its way to you now. The kids have squeezed its paw like a million times wanting to hear their voices in the message. We are praying for you, Mom. A song keeps playing through my head this week for you. It is “Healing Is In Your Hands” by Christy Nockels. Here are some of the lyrics:
“No mountain, no valley
No gain or loss we know
Could keep us from Your love
No sickness, no secret
No chain is strong enough
To keep us from Your love
To keep us from Your love
How high? How wide?
No matter where I am
Healing is in Your hands.”
I love that as God’s children we are promised healing whether now or later. And I love knowing that we are covered by God’s love. And that even in this storm God is in the boat with you. I love you, Mom, and we are praying, and praying, and praying for you this week…
