Get Your Wild Life On
After leaving Great Wolf Lodge last weekend we headed to the Wild Animal Safari. I have been wanting to go there for a long time now. We had the opportunity to drive through the park in our vehicle and feed the different animals that we met along the way. I have to say the commentary from the kids in the car was hilarious on the drive! We kept our windows rolled up part of the time (depending on the animal) and rolled them down all the way during other times. It was so bizarre to have zebras and donkeys and camels and llamas (and the list just goes on and on) coming up to our windows as if this was a common everyday occurrence. The emus were especially startling. We would frequently look over and see one peeking into our windows, head bobbing and mouth pursed. It was the funniest sight! The kids were literally shouting, “Go!” as some sort of African cow began banging our car with its long horns! It seriously had no control of those things! We were so glad that we pulled away when we did because right after we drove off a massive cow with ENORMOUS horns approached that same area where we were. You can make out some of its chunky horns in the photo of the cow that I took (this cow’s head is bent over off to the right in the photo). Gigantic horns! One car was so brave/foolish to let a buffalo stick its head in their car. No thanks, we’ll pass! Anna’s favorite part of all was feeding the giraffe later. She has loved giraffes since she was a little girl. This is probably where we got the most comical photo of the day, with Abigail and me feeding it…let’s just say, a giraffe’s tongue has a lot of slobber! It was a great visit, and we learned a lot. And now, our car is in desperate need of a car wash! Eww!
