Daniel Boone Home
A couple weeks ago we went on a field trip with friends to the Daniel Boone Home. We actually never went inside the home because our friend had scheduled 4 other activities for that day which I think were more exciting for a large field trip. We had a fiddle demonstration in the old chapel, pioneer games outside on the green, woodworking in the carpentry building, and writing, ciphering, and reading in the old schoolhouse. We shopped in the gift shop before we left and got some candy, crystals, arrowhead necklaces, and rings. I would say this was, by far, one of my absolute favorite field trips! The kids want to go back to show the place to Shawn and tour the Daniel Boone home. We had just read about Daniel Boone and his daughter getting captured by Indians in our reading this past month, so the field trip tied in perfectly. This was such a fun way to remember the “good ‘ole days!”
