Vikings and Blackbears
Basketball season has ended for Cody and Dylan. Dylan had the absolute best coaches he could ever have gotten! I loved that he had them for his first year of basketball. They are both from Ohio, so we had a common bond. They encouraged Dylan, and all the other children, to shoot the basketball when they had the opportunity. I know Dylan would have just preferred to pass it to another teammate, but the coaches’ goal was to have everyone score. I remember Dylan’s first basket…He was looking around to see who to pass it to, and the coach encouraged him on, “Shoot it, Dylan! Shoot it, Dylan!” The coach had to shout this about 4 or 5 times before Dylan went for the shot. He made it, and, oh, if you could have seen his face!!! He went on to make more baskets in the coming games, one when my family got to be there. The best games were on the last weekend of the season. Cody and Dylan scored the highest during that weekend’s games. It was nice to end the season that way.
On a side note: One of the boys from church was on Dylan’s team. Rashad was so sweet with Dylan. He made sure Dylan got a Gatorade to drink during the first game. His mom nudged me during another game…The boys were knelt down on the gym floor, and Rashad was tying Dylan’s shoe for him. Rashad was always looking after Dylan. So sweet.
On another side note: Cody wore his brother’s uniform shorts for team pictures by mistake. Yeah, that’s how we roll sometimes. (Smile)
