What Happens In The Woods Stays In The Woods
Some highlights from our hike on the Lewis and Clark Trail:
~We found a frog, the tiniest lizard, and Dylan spotted 2 deer and managed not to scare them off despite Shawn comparing our traipsing through the woods to a herd of elephants!
~We waited out Dylan’s constipation (and too much fruit juice) issues on a nearby rock. There were giggles from the kids as we named the spot Poo-Poo Rock as a memorial. A lady graciously came up and asked to take our family photo while sitting there. I will never be able to look at that photo and not remember the sheer panic from Dylan (and, truthfully, all of us) that led us to that spot.
~Got to admire the gorgeous bluffs along the way
~Almost took the 8 mile trail instead of the 5.3 mile one. Thankfully, Shawn caught that on the map and set us straight. We would have been walking in the dark by the end of it.
~Started to feel a little like Sacagawea as I trudged up some serious inclines with a 4 year old asleep on my back.
~Favorite quote from the hike came from Dylan, “Well, that was the first time I have ever used the potty in the woods like an animal!” Desperate times really do call for desperate measures.
