Johnson’s Shut-ins
We played at Johnson’s Shut-ins, and I laughed so hard until my cheeks hurt as I watched so many comedic scenes play out that day with my family. Then the next day we laughed again until it hurt replaying it all over again! It all started when Shawn grew concerned about me trying to haul our beach bag full of towels, shoes, clothing items, etc. over the slippery rocks along the water. The further we went the more worried he grew that I might hurt myself. Actually, it all started back at the car when he said he was going to leave the beach bag, and I said I would carry it in case the kids wanted to dry off. I eventually gave in and handed the bag over to Shawn. He didn’t have it long before he slipped on a rock and sent the beach bag flying into the air. Cody and I both witnessed it soaring high, as Shawn tried to keep from hurting himself. The bag miraculously landed upright in the water, only sending one towel and a pair of flip-flops into the water which we were able to retrieve. A few minutes later, though, we weren’t so lucky as Shawn slipped again, soaking all our towels, clothes, etc. Shawn eventually handed the bag back to me as I seemed to have better traction, but, at that point, with everything soaked inside the bag, it was as if he had replaced our towels with bricks, making it much more difficult to haul. Awhile later, Dylan got caught in some mini “rapids” and was laughing as he called out for help. Anna, perched on top of a rock, shouted eagerly, “Here, Dylan, I’ll save you!” Somehow, in all her eagerness, she managed to accidentally flip herself off sideways into the water, arms and legs flailing everywhere. Through all the bumps and bruises along the way that day, I was reminded of a saying, “Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure.” I love adventuring with these guys!
