You Can Say That Again
Just a few cute quotes from the kids:
~Abigail was insisting that I eat some of her awesome chocolate the other night. Dylan said to me in a dramatic, drawn-out voice, “Eat like the lady you are!” I wasn’t sure if I should have been offended. I mean, it sounded so regal but also so insulting at the same time!
~When Dylan realized we were about to call him out of the swimming pool to go home, he threw his hands up, shouted, “You see nothing!” and then went completely under water.
~I asked Dylan how I got so lucky to have him. He said to me, “Because God wanted you to have a funny boy.”
~At the pet store Abigail got scratched by a bunny, bit by a bird, and developed a swollen eye from an allergic reaction. Shawn called her after he got off work and asked, “Did a bird try to eat you today?” She responded, “It didn’t try. It DID eat me!”
~Abigail proudly let me know that she washed the toe prints on the foot stool in the bathroom for me. I thanked her profusely as I could tell she was pleased to do something helpful. Then she explained how she cleaned it, “I used a Kleenex. Then I dipped it into the toilet water…” Well, if it didn’t need a cleaning before…!
~After my dad had surgery to get rid of a “pocket” that had developed in his throat, it sounded funny listening to Dylan’s prayer, “Thank you, God, that Grandpa’s pocket is out of his throat.”
~Dylan told Anna that the yogurt was past its “inspiration” date. (Expiration)
~Dylan told us, “I don’t wanna date. I wanna stay with Mommy.”
~Speaking to Dylan about something (I, honestly, can’t remember what about now), he answers me back, “Tell that to the government!”
~I overheard Dylan discussing with Abigail how pregnant mothers deliver their babies: “The doctor gives you a pill to drink, and it goes down, and then you fall asleep. Then they cut open your tummy, and they take the babies out and then put your tummy back together. Abigail answers him, “Wait, there’s stuffing in your stomach?!” Dylan responds, “No, there are babies in your tummy, but don’t worry. You don’t feel anything.” Abby’s conclusion, “Well, I don’t want that to happen to me.” Dylan assured her that it will happen but when she gets married. Abby says emphatically and with urgency, “When you get married, you better get to the doctor right away!”
~During family movie night, I got a phone call. I took it and talked on the step in the garage. Dylan came out a little later, sat down next to me, and we talked for quite awhile after I hung up the phone. I later commented about the fun movie he had picked ending to which he responded, “Oh, it’s not over yet. I just came out here to be with you.” Just him and me, talking side by side. He gave up movie night for that. Melted my heart.
