Estes Park

We were in Denver last week to celebrate Shawn’s mom’s 60th birthday.  While there we got to do a little hiking at Estes Park.  The chipmunks ate right out of the kids’ hands which one fellow hiker voiced her disapproval of to us.  Apparently, she felt it would make them dependent on humans, which led Shawn’s sister Elizabeth to begin her rant on welfare recipients after Shawn mentioned that he thought he saw a sign stating that feeding the chipmunks was a federal offense.  We joked about getting locked up in jail for it.  Shawn imagined the conversation going something like this with his fellow inmates, “So, what are you in for?”  “Feeding chipmunks.”  Fellow inmate, “Um, is that a euphemism?”  Ha!
