Unconventional First Aid

We met some friends at the park the other day.  While there a bee or wasp (we never saw what it was) stung Abigail on her back and then finger.  My friend Emily said to me, “Too bad we don’t have any baking soda or vinegar with us to put on her back.”  Then she laughed, “Oh, I think it’s baking soda and water you’re supposed to mix for a bee sting!  Not vinegar.  Baking soda and vinegar make a volcano!”  We laughed at the idea of erupting a volcano on Abby’s back!  Emily remembered that her first aid kit in her car had some hydrocortisone cream, so we applied that instead!
