My Little Song Artists
For the past few weeks now, I have noticed how much easier Abigail is to take places or to even do things with, even if that means making dinner with her by my side. I love that she is at an age where she comprehends (for the most part) what I am telling her. I love that I can grab some Cheerios to throw in her diaper bag, and she will be content snacking on those when we go places or are having to sit through gymnastics or Awana ceremonies. Reading to her or playing patty-cake seems to do the trick also. I found this photo I took a few months back when things weren’t quite as easy, though! Let me share the background story first. Anna had a friend come over, and we needed to take her home which required getting everyone in socks and shoes and such. This put us a little late for dinner, so when we got home I put some bacon in the oven (I really can’t remember what the meal was that night, just know it required bacon). Abby was in her exersaucer but saw me and wanted me to hold her. I asked Cody and Anna to play with her a minute while I made sure not to burn the bacon. I knew Shawn was almost home, so when he arrived a few minutes later, I told Cody he didn’t have to play with Abigail. He wanted to, though, and I could hear him saying as he passed through the room, “Now where is that pacifier?” Later I was cleaning the living room and found this song Cody had written for Abigail on his Cars drawing tablet that night. They made this up a long time ago and used to sing it to Abigail often whenever she got sad. I don’t get to hear it as much now that she is able to get around on her own and is getting bigger. It sort of makes me miss those times. Even Dylan used to sit next to her and sing it. I love that she gets some pretty amazing brothers and one special sister to go through life with. Love these guys! I hope they stay close.
