Family Fun Run

Cody’s Sunday school class had a family fun run the other week after church. His class had been talking about determination that month, and they wanted to wrap up the lessons by having the childern (and family) complete a one mile run/walk with the goal in mind to not give up even when you feel tired or just don’t want to continue. Shawn ran it with Cody and Anna. Anna made it halfway through, running back to me as she passed by on the final lap. Shawn and Cody completed it together. I love the photos of Cody’s smile the final stretch as he made his way to the finish line. He received a medal and a lot of high-fives from the crowd. We went out for lunch afterwards, and he took his medal inside, hoping someone would notice. A nice older man standing in line in front of us turned, noticed the medal, and asked if had been in some sort of a race. Boy, was Cody delighted! He and the man chatted the rest of the time in line together. The man was so friendly and had Cody laughing. He has no idea how much his conversation meant to Cody I’m sure.
