Butterfly House
The other Sunday we went on a picnic after church. I wanted to see what all the hype was about Sugarfire, a local barbeque place. Well, it lived up to its reputation. We picked up some sandwiches and took them to the park outside of the Butterfly House, and they were delicious. Anna raved the most about it, next to me. Then we looked around the Butterfly House for a bit. Cody had caught a caterpillar about a week before we went, and he was concerned as its cocoon turned from green to black. We asked inside about it, but the young college student who helped us didn’t seem too sure about the switching of the colors. Cody took the caterpillar on a walk with me one day. I remember how Cody reached over and held my hand during the walk. I thought we must surely look like a bizarre sight, walking around, hand in hand, with this bug box and cocoon inside! Cody began to fear it had died. Then the next day we saw that a beautiful moth had escaped from its cocoon. Cody was so delighted! He had taken care of this caterpillar all on his own, gathered food for it, and got to see the fruit of his labor. We set it free the next morning. Cody loved how his moth hung out on him before it flew away. He is hoping it comes back again.
