Daniel Boone Home
We ended our school week with a trip to the Daniel Boone home. We went there last year for a field trip and absolutely loved it. The kids and I agree it is our absolute favorite field trip to take. This year we did some things we were not able to do last year. We signed the children up to tour the Boone home this year. That was so educational and also very neat to hear some of the pranks that Daniel Boone liked to pull. We learned how to start a fire and also got to try our hand at candle dipping. My kids loved being able to take their very own candle home that they had made all by themselves! We played some pioneer games out on the lawn. I think the two games were called Graces and Hoop and Stick. What a fun experience for the children to get a close up look at what life was like years ago. And after learning what the pretty, decorative pot under the bed was used for, they are much more appreciative of modern conveniences like indoor plumbing!
